1. How do I track my shipment?

You can call or email us at any time for prompt information about a particular shipment, including its current delivery status and location.

2. If my shipment needs special attention who do I contact?

Our company is capable of handling almost any size freight. If your freight requires special consideration, call us prior to the pick up so that we can plan ahead to ensure your needs are met.

3. How much time do we need to give you for a pick up of a shipment?

Quality Transport always appreciate as much notice time as possible, we usually require 2 to 3 hour notice before the pick up for all truckload or less-than-truckload (LTL) services but please keep in mind if you have to call us at the last minute, we will of course do our best to get your shipment delivered on time.

4. How should the shipment be packed?

Items should be packed in cardboard boxes and placed on skids. Each box should have a sticker on it with the description of the contents inside and the quantity. Skids should be shrink wrapped tight so the boxes don't move when transported.

5. How do I obtain a proof of delivery of my shipment?

You can obtain a proof of delivery by calling our customer service

6. How do I ship Large or oversized items?

Quality Transport can handle most oversized and overweight shipments. Please call our sales representative ahead so we can make arrangements with our preferred network of specialized freight carriers to ensure safe and on time delivery.

7. What is the basic procedure for shipping freight?

A standard procedure for shipping freight is when a truck driver backs up to a loading dock for the shipment to be loaded by the shipper and then driving that shipment to the destination loading dock to be unloaded by the consignee. Other services required are additional and they are called accessorial's.

8. What types of freight items do you ship?

We do not handle shipping of items such as Household Goods, Furniture, Personal Items, and Alcohol types of products, hazardous materials. Note we do not ship to residential addresses.

9. Do you ship all over the United States?

Our main freight service area is Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, but per customers request we will go outside our main freight service area.

10. What is expected from you when our truck driver arrives to pick up your freight?

Make sure that your shipment is packaged so that the items are secure and protected. Make sure that Boxed/crated and palletized shipments are secure to the pallet with binding, strapping or shrink/stretch wrap. Every box should be labeled. Each label should include the total pieces of your shipment. (example would be box 1 of 8). Our driver will not load or unload the shipment. If the driver is required to go inside (beyond the front door or loading dock) to pick up or deliver a load, additional fees will apply.

11. Are shipping transport times guaranteed?

We will do our best to get your freight on time and when promised but please be aware that situations arise to accidents, weather conditions and traffic.

12. How do I know when I Should a Common Freight Carrier?

You should use a common freight carrier when you package weights more than 150 lbs, united states parcel service will not deliver packages over 150 lbs. You will need a common freight carrier that specializes in LTL (less than truckload). If you shipment is over 8,000 lbs it usually will fill up a full truck, you will need a common freight carrier that specialized in FTL (full truckload). A&M Quality transport specializes in both types of shipments LTL and FTL.

13. How are shipments transported with a LTL Freight Carrier?

LTL means less than truckload so your shipment will be transported via truck along with other customer's shipments. Transporting several different shipments at one time and one truck saves gas and time which cuts costs of your transportation and that is why LTL transportation is so affordable.

14. How are shipment transported with a FTL Freight Carrier?

If a shipment is large enough to take up the entire truck space, it is considered (full truckload). This means that your shipment will be transported by itself without other customer's shipments.

15. What happens when my shipment is not ready when the driver comes?

If your shipment is not ready when the driver gets there you will be responsible to pay waiting time. Any failed shipping delivery attempt will be assessed a fee by the carrier. Another synerial could be that the driver will not wait and will be dispatched to come out again the next day and you will be charged for a duplicate pick up. Make sure your freight is ready when you schedule a pick up to prevent any additional shipping charges.

16. What is a NMFC Number?

NMFC stands for National Motor Freight Classification that number identifies a product that you are shipping with your carrier. This number identifies what you are shipping and is used to calculate part of your shipping rate.

17. Should I use a freight forwarding broker or should I go with the direct carrier or trucking company?

It is usually better to have your own trusted company that is time tested. That way you can rest assured that your freight will be shipped on time and with care. Going with a freight broker you just never know who will be shipping and handling your freight.

18. Accessorial fees What are they?

Any additional service that is outside the standard shipping requirements. Those additional services are called Accessorial Fees.
Examples: Inside delivery, inside pick up, two men delivery, lift gate service and 2nd duplicated pick up fee.

Inside Delivery or Inside Pick Up fee: If the driver is required to go inside the building beyond the loading duck to deliver a package or shipment.

Two Men Shipping fee: If your shipping requires two men to load boxes or to unload them.

Lift gate service fee: When a location does not have a shipping dock where the delivery is being delivered to often times you will need a lift gate service. A lift gate is a motorized platform attached to the back of a truck that can raised up and down.

2nd Duplicated Pick up fee: Any failed shipping delivery attempt that is assessed by the carrier.
